This session at Old Snow Basin Road was so much fun! I’ve been looking forward to this session for months, because I knew they’d be announcing their little miracle baby! Here is a little bit about Ben + Brooklyn and their infertility journey!
Their journey together began when they met in high school, in their schools religious seminary class. Ben is two years older than Brooklyn, and and soon after graduation, Ben left for a LDS mission to Eugene, Oregon. During the entirety of his mission, Brooklyn finished out high school and wrote ben during his stint away, ever so slowly growing closer to each other. Ben was really into Brooklyn, and Vice Versa!
Once Ben returned home, These two sweethearts started dating. They dated each other for a year before getting married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 27, 2017.
Soon Ben + Brooklyn became settled into their lives as newlyweds right along doing full-time school at a local Utah College and both working as full time employees.
In March of 2020, they decided it was time to grow their family.
After trying and battling issues, they found out Brooklyn was diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS, a hormonal imbalance that is the leading cause of infertility).
Ben + Brooklyn decided to start on fertility medication immediately after the diagnosis. After 8 rounds of unsuccessful medicated cycles, they turned to a Reproductive Endocrinologist for more help. It was there that Brooklyn was diagnosed with Hypothalamic Dysfunction. This diagnosis means, her hypothalamus and pituitary gland don’t communicate with each other and don’t tell her body to produce any hormones.
After they were given this devastating second diagnosis, on top of PCOS, they decided their next treatment would be an IUI, intrauterine insemination.
They started with a month of hormone therapy and then started on injections to help grow Brooklyn’s eggs. The injections were very successful and they were able to do their IUI within one week of starting injections.
These two found out they were finally pregnant at the end of April! What an amazing opportunity these two now have to grow their family and take care of an extremely beautiful baby.
Brooklyn is now carrying a very healthy baby boy and is expecting him on January 8, 2022. I can’t wait to see their family grow! They are going to make the best parents ever!
